Brian McDonald joined the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Minnesota District Office in October 2017 as the Deputy District Director supporting program and service delivery programs for small businesses across Minnesota. Previously, for thirteen years Brian worked and resided in Washington, D.C. in various positions in the federal government. From 2012-2017 Brian worked for SBA as a Program Manager focused on economic development efforts. In 2016, Brian completed a professional development rotation, through the President’s Management Council, as a Policy Analyst at Health and Human Services (HHS) in HRSA’s Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW) working on programs and legislative requests aimed at supporting doctors and nurses in underserved areas. Prior to joining SBA, Brian worked for eight years in various team-lead positions within the U.S. Department of Treasury, CDFI Fund, responsible for grant funding, tax incentives, and bond guarantees to financial institutions committed to providing financial products and services in low-and-moderate-income communities. Brian also has worked as a credit analyst for a regional bank in Upstate New York (in the “Finger Lakes”), and as a Loan Officer for the international micro finance non-profit, ACCION, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Originally from Rochester, NY, Brian went to Syracuse University for undergrad and Georgetown University for his Master’s degree.
